i) The Himadri (Greater Himalaya)

ii) The Himachal (Lesser Himalya)

iii) The Shiwaliks (Outer Himalaya)

Typical character of each:

i) The Himadri : The Himadri is the loftiest of all. All the high peaks belong to this range.

ii) The Himachal : All the important hill stations such as Dalhousie , Dharamshala and shimla bellong to this range.

iii) The Shiwalik range : These are made - up of unconsolidated river deposits , and are prone to earthquakes and landslides.
