It is used as a reference for the setting of measuring equipment used in machine shops, such as micrometers, sine bars, calipers, and dial indicators (when used in an inspection role). gauge pin is similar to a gauge block. It is a precision ground cylindrical bar for use in Go/no go gauges or similar applications.

Metrology is the scientific study of measurements.

Instruments used in metrology

• Hygrometer - A hygrometer is an instrument used to measure the presence of water vapour in soil or in air.

• Thermometer - It is a device that is used to measure surrounding temperature.

• Barometer - A barometer is the specially designed instrument used to measure the pressure of an area.

• Ammeter- It is designed to measure electric current.

• Voltmeter - This device measures the potential difference across any two points.

• Galvanometer - It is just like ammeter but for very small values of electric current.

Thank you
