Wheat is a very important crop in Rajasthan and state occupies 4th position under area share (10.16 percent, in TE 2012-13) in India and 99.2 percent area irrigated under in this crop during 2012-13.

The wheat crop was shared 12.07 percent in a gross cropped area during TE 2012-13 and 3rd most privileged crop cultivated by farmers.

The Ganganagar district has accounted highest area under Wheat crop 2.43 lakh ha in TE 2012-13 and its share is 8.1 percent in state area under this crop.
