There is no proper evidence of the actual initial habitat of the Gupta Dynasty.
Considering the theory of coinage, some prominent historians say that they originated in Prayaga (Allahabad) and spread over the entire northeastern region of the then India.
While other famous historians put forward the theory of the Gupta Dynasty being originated from Murshidabad in Bengal and then spread over to Magadha in Bihar.
