which aspects of pallavas and cholas dynasties of south india make the great builders
Answers
The Chola dynasty existed from 300 BC to 1279 AD, ruling most of southern parts of India and Sri Lanka. They were Hindu rulers who encouraged Tamil literature and temple architecture. They built several temples, which also served as places of economic activity. Chola architecture influenced Southeast Asian architecture and art.
Like the Cholas, Pallavas who ruled between 275 – 897 AD, were avid builders. They were pioneers in building stone temples. Their particular style of architecture, transitioned from rock-cut temples to stone temples. Rock cut temples of Mahabalipuram and the Kailasanathar temple at Kanchipuram are examples of their magnificent architecture.
Both Cholas and Pallavas were Shaivites.
The kings of Cholas and the Pallavas dynasty made beautiful temples in South India during their control.
Some of the famous structures are “Descent of the Ganges,” “Arjuna’s Penance,” are of Cholas creation that have earned huge applause.
From Pallavas some excellent temples and sculptures were found like Shiva Nataraja, The Kailasanatha temple in Kanchipuram, the Shore Temple, rock cut temple in Mahendravadi, etc.
