The Institution of Engineers was incorporated by royal charter in 1935. The Bank of Calcutta (later on rechristened as Bank of Bengal in 1909) also got royal charter. The Bank of Bengal was further merged with other two presidency banks and Imperial Bank of India was established in 1923.
