the molecules of liquid is far it is a fluid it has the priperty of flow while the molecule of solid are very close to each other and they are rigid and have shape and size

liquid have more inter molecular space which makes it float , to stop floating we need a container...
but as the intermolecular space is less in solids it don't float and therefore it don't need a container...
