Constantinople was the wealthiest and the largest city in Europe. It contained some very able men who wee scientists, physicists ,mathematicians. This men kept it strong till its was conquered in 1453. The position within which it was being located also contributed for it to stand that strong for so long. Its fall is traced back when the capital was captured and the empire of byzantine was invaded by the army of the ottoman.
