buoyant force is an upward force exerted by water on any object. it's also known as upthrust. every object on earth is attracted towards the center because of the force due to gravity. but when the object is on water, then the water pushes it upwards. that's why objects float on water if their density is less. and also if their density is more than of the buoyant force, we have to push it a little bit. another example is during fetching water from a well. when the water is filled in the bucket, we find it lighter because of the buoyant force. water is pushing the bucket upwards.
