A forest ecosystem refers to a huge region of land, which is enveloped in trees and other woody plants and is occupied with the living animals. There are three main kinds of forests, that is, deciduous forests, tropical rainforests, and coniferous forests.

It can be stated that a forest ecosystem is a natural unit comprising of all the biotic components, that is, all the plants, animals, and microorganisms in that region functioning in combination with all of the abiotic or the non-living elements of the environment.

A forest ecosystem describes the community of plants, animals, microbes and all other organisms which are in interaction with the chemical and physical features of their environment like a terrestrial environment dominated by trees growing in a closed canopy i.e, a forest, in other words.
