Tailorbirds sew the leaves like a tailor to make their nests

Explanation:

The female tailorbirds carefully select a broad, strong, smooth leaf that can provide good support once folded. The female wraps her leaf around to ensure it's the right size. She then pulls the leaf together with her feet and pierces a series of miniscule holes along the edge of the leaf, using her long , slender beak, shaped like a needle. The holes are small enough to keep the form of the leaf, so it doesn't go brown.

The female threads through the holes contain plant fibers (such as cotton or lint) or insect silk (such as cobwebs or caterpillar coconuts). There can be between 150 and 200 stitches in a single nest.

The nest even has a roof that provides shelter from the monsoon rains and offers shade from the Sun, formed by one or more pulled down pieces of leaves. The whole cycle takes place during the daytime over the span of two to four days. The female does all the work but the male collects all the material.
