Answer:

The correct option for the above given question is option D. O blood group.

Explanation:

Majorly human blood is categorised into 24 groups and there are several other groups also present but A, B, AB and O these four are considered as major blood groups.

The categorisation of these blood groups is based on the antibodies present on the the blood sample.

But in case of a group there are no antibodies present present in this group and they can be donated to any group member as no major reactions occur due to blood transfusion.

Hence of blood group persons are considered as universal donors.

“O” blood group is possessed by universal donor.

Explanation:

  • The donor depends on the antibody present in the blood plasma. In case of A blood group the antigen is A and the antibody is B, hence if given to a B blood group person there is hemolysis.
  • So it is inappropriate. Similarly in the case of B blood group the antigen is B and the antibody is A, hence if given to ‘A’ blood group person there is hemolysis.
  • So it is also inappropriate. The antigen in AB is anti A and anti B so can act as universal acceptor due to absence of any antibody.
  • Also in case of O there is no antigen hence can be universally donated.
