A lot of people are poor in English and are cheated by tricky teachers who promise them better english within 4–5 months.

It is also true of books.

It is the ugly truth that english cannot be learned in such short span of time. Coaching classes , english speaking courses, learning tenses and english teaching books don’t work. These things will not improve your english but you will end up wasting your money and, what is infinitely worse, your time.

My advise is to not take any english course/book that teaches you tenses or Active-passive, direct- indirect or even translations. They ruin you and damage you. Sounds strange!! But it is the harsh truth and i know it from experience.

Imagine a kid born in USA , he does not learn any tenses, Active passive , direct- indirect etc. to get better at english he just knows it by being in an english environment.

Take yourself for example , You must be extremely good at speaking your mother tongue ( hindi in my case ) without knowing the rules of hindi grammar. Still you speak it very well.Moral of the story is that a person does not need to know the rules of grammar to learn a particular language. You just need an environment.

So how to get the enviroment?

since no one around you is going to speak english or talk to you in english, you have to create your own environment. Here is how it can be done

1- Watch english movies with subtitles. If your movie doesnt have subtitles download them, they are easy to find. Watching movies not only makes you learn new words but also gives you the right pronunciation and accent.

2- Listen english songs. Read their lyrics
