Pharynx:

A tube like structure that extends from the base of the skull to the lower border of the cricoids cartilage is called pharynx. The fibro muscular tube is composed of 3 muscles called constrictors named as superior middle and inferior pharyngeal constrictors. Pharynx continues to become esophagus that leads up to stomach.

Larynx:

Larynx is made up of cartilage, ligament muscles and mucous membrane. Larynx leads to the entrance of lower respiratory passages and protects the vocal cords.

How sound is produced:

Larynx plays a role in voice production. When air enters the mouth through mouth and nose it passes through the vocal cords and cause vibration. This vibration produces sound waves in pharynx, nose and mouth. The vocal folds inside the larynx decide the pitch of sound.
