Since RBC loses mitochondria at phase 3 of erythropoesis . So , the red blood cells do contain mitochondria so that is does not use the oxygen being carried by the cells for itself. It does not contain endoplasmic reticulum which helps reduce its surface to volume ratio, hence allowing more red blood cells to be accommodated in a particular area. Most importantly, it does not contain the nucleus at its mature stage. When the red blood cells are produced, they initially contain the nucleus but lose it as they mature. This increases the efficiency of the cell to carry oxygen. This applies for all the three things
