I think the final 1813 Campaign was the last serious attempt at maintaining a presence and support of the Poles and German states. Failure at Leipsig and roll back into France pretty much ended any hope of retaining allies. When he returns in 1815 he purportedly states it is the will of the people and he wants to be the French leader in peace. ( None of the monarchies had any reason to believe that. )
