Mandala Theory holds that your neighbour is your natural enemy and the neighbour’s neighbour is your friend. This is the basic thought behind Kautilya’s Mandala Theory. The person who has written the Arthashastra is Chanakya who is referred to as Kautilya.
Mandala is a Sanskrit word that means 'circles'. Kautilya’s ‘Arthashastra’ is a fundamental book of state management. Arthashastra comprises of fifteen books. Out of these books, the first five deals with internal administration, the next eight comprises of relations with bordering states; and rest two are miscellaneous in character.
