This question is in reference to Shakespeare's play As You Like it. In the play, the song is split into three sections dialogues in Scene 5 of Act II. Amines, a courtier, sings the first half and is joined by people in the second half.
The third half is sung by Lord Jaques who is in complete disagreement of the first two halves in which the idea of living under the greenwood tree, content with the available food, devoid of ambition and appreciative of nature is put forward.
He sings in the third half that anyone who renounces the wealth and ease of court to go live under the greenwood tree will be a fool to do so.
