Which characteristic of matter is illustrated by the observation ,when 50 gm of sugar is dissolve in 100ml of water their is no increase in volume​

When 50g of sugar is added to 100ml of water ,and stirred with a glass rod then it dissolves quickly. But the level of water remains same because when sugar is dissolved in water ,the particles of sugar get int o the spaces between the particles of waterSo,this observation suggests that particles of matter have space between them
