Salt, bleach and Vinegar ^^ are the chemicals which accelerate rusting
There are mainly two conditions necessary for the rusting of iron i.e.
1. Presence of Oxygen
2. Presence of Moisture
Iron rusts due to the redox reaction of iron with oxygen in the presence of moisture
The reaction is given below
4Fe + 3O₂ + 2H₂O ⇒ 2Fe₂O₃.H₂O
This can be stopped by galvanisation, tinning, oiling and greasing or painting etc,
