=> We know that, Carbon dioxide (CO2) is an acidic oxide in nature, hence when it is dissolved in water, it forms and Acid that is Carbonic Acid (H2CO3) .

=> Now we, know that an acid can only be attracted towards a base or vice versa to form a stable neutralised compound.

Hence, KOH is a strong base it absorbs the CO2 to form a stable compound.
