The city was destroyed by the Goths in 263, and although rebuilt, the city's importance as a commercial centre declined as the harbour was slowly silted up by the Küçükmenderes River. It was partially destroyed by an earthquake in 614 AD.

Ephesus is the ancient city in Turkey that was destroyed by war.
One can still find the ruins of the Ephesus city near selcuk village in western Turkey. It was built back in 10th century BC and one of the twelve cities of the Ionian league.
Ephesus was known for its architecture and temples which portrayed Geek Mythology in a great manner. It was destroyed in 263 AD as a result of Goths war. But later the city had been rebuilt by the emperor Constantine the great but unfortunately again the city was destroyed by an earthquake.
