The city of Jaipur (Capital of Rajasthan) is known as pink city.

This is because, in 1876, Queen Victoria visited India with Prince of England and Wales. Then Maharaja Ram Singh painted the whole city in pink colour to welcome them.

He painted whole city in pink colour because pink colour denotes Hospitality.
