Answer:

Jaipur is known as the pink city. This is due to the dominant color scheme of its buildings which is pink. The city of Jaipur is widely known as Pink City because of the pink coloured terracotta stones used for the construction of all the buildings. The colour pink has its own history and it denotes the hospitality. Maharaja Ram Singh of the Royal Family of Jaipur ordered that the whole city was to be painted pink in the year 1876 in order to welcome Queen Victoria and Prince Albert who were visiting Jaipur. For Indian political leaders, this was a great opportunity to strengthen ties to the British monarchy and thus gain personal acquaintances with the British Royal family. This tradition has been diligently followed by the residents of Jaipur over the ages and presently compelled by law to maintain the pink colour in the city’s buildings and important structures. It is believed that it is due to this pink colour that the city holds a romantic vibe and has captivated visitors from far and wide.
