- According to the Mendeleev periodic table –The “physical and chemical properties” are the ‘periodic functions’ of their respective atomic mass.
- In the ‘increasing order’ of their respective Atomic masses, Mendeleev arranged all the elements at that time so that chemically similar elements were placed in the same ‘vertical column’.
Drawbacks of periodic table:
- Position of Hydrogen is not well defined.
- Unlike elements are placed in same row. Example- Potassium and copper.
