Manganese acts as essential co-factor for photolysis of water.

Explanation:

The main plant organelle involved in photosynthesis process in plant is chlorophyll. In its structure it has manganese which acts as essential co-factor for photolysis of water.

In the process, as electron exits out of chlorophyll it leads to a hole in which the water molecules gets fitted in and this water molecule is splitted into hydrogen and oxygen which is governed by manganese present in  chlorophyll.
