Answer:

parallel combination.

Explanation:

in series combination, resultant=2+4=6 Ohm

in parallel combination, 2.4/(2+4)=1.33 Ohm

hence, least resistance is offered in parallel resistance.

Parallel combination of 2ohm and 4ohm resistor offers the least resistance to current in the circuit.

Given :

R₁ = 2 ohm

R₂ = 4 ohm

To Find :

Which combination of 2ohm and 4ohm resistor offers the least resistance to current in the circuit?

Solution :

In series combination, the equivalent resistance would be the sum of the two resistances R₁ and R₂

Equivalent Resistance in series combination = R₁ + R₂

                                                                           = 2 + 4

                                                                           = 6 ohm.

In parallel combination, Equivalent resistance (R) can be given as -

R   =   \frac{R_1 R_2}{R_1 + R_2}

     =   \frac{2 * 4}{2 + 4 }

     =   \frac{8}{6}

     = 1.33 ohm

Hence, in parallel combination 2ohm and 4ohm resistor will offer the least resistance to current in the circuit.
