The nucleus has 4 components: Nuclear pores, nuclear membrane, chromatin, and nucleolus. The chromatin are where the DNA is located, the hereditary information. The nucleolus is where ribosomes are produced, and without it, you would not be able to copy DNA/survive, so it too is a hereditary character in a way.
