The network connection that offers the fastest speeds, highest security, lowest latency and highest reliability is Optic Fibre. It is a recent invention that has revolutionised network connectivity.

 

Optic fibres are now in common use in apartment complexes and office buildings for high speed data connections. They are based on the principle of Total Internal Reflection of light when going from a medium of higher refractive index into one with lesser value. This continuous reflection allows the light signals to travel few kilometres for every ping on the optic fibre wall.

 

It is made of an outer sheath and an inner core. The sheath is surrounded a harder second sheath which protects the fibre from external effects such as wire-tapping and damage.
