It is called a continent of thirsty lands as most of the regions in Australia receive low rain throughout the entire year.

Its geographical location is mostly responsible for its dry weather conditions.

The continent Australia receives seasons that are opposite to the seasons of the Northern hemisphere and as such remains dry.
