United States of America was the 1st country to recognise Mother's Day and it was first celebrated by Anna Jarvis during the year 1908. Anna Jarvis held a memorial of her mother in the St. Andrew's Church in West Virginia but did not mother's day to become a commercial event. US government declared mother's day as an official holiday in the year 1914.
