For a Cell to be living, it's Nucleus has to be present and inside the cell. If the nucleus is outside the cell or not alive then the cell will die right away. Another condition can be synthesizing ATP. Cell has organelle named as "mitochondria" which synthesizes ATP for distributing energy to cell. If it doesn't function, cells can die.
