The basic criteria of classification of plants is number of cotyledons i.e. Plants are classified on the basis of number of cotyledon.
There are 2 types
i) Monocotyledon
These plants have only 1 cotyledon and other is called scutellum
ii) DiCotyledon
These plants have two cotyledons.
