Developing countries like India usually practice intensive agriculture whereas, developed countries like USA mostly practice commercial agriculture primarily because of the following reasons:
a. If we compare the condition of farms and farmers in India and USA, farms in India are smaller in size,in USA they are larger in size. The average size in USA is about 250 hectares .
b. The agricultural production is largely impacted with the condition of farmers, size of land holding which for instance is relatively high in US contributing to high yield and is less in India.
c. Nature of farming also impacts agriculture in country, In India large number of farmers till practise subsistence farming, shifting agriculture, in USA it is more of a commercial farming, mixed farming because of the farm size and facilities available.
d We may also take into account the irrigation methods used in India and USA that also becomes the cause and effect of nature of farming , In India, farmers are usually dependent on monsoons to meet their water needs, in USA there is a well irrigation facility.
e.. In India, farmer still rely on primitive methods of production, in USA they use modern technology levellers, threshers, harvesters.
f. Farmers in India also lack proper storage facility which acts as a hindrance for them to expand their area of production , in USA farmers have automated grain storage and are more like businessman.
