B) Modem
- A modulator-demodulator, or modem, is computer equipment that converts data from digital form into a format suitable for an analog transmission medium such as a telephone or radio.
- The modem transmits data by modulating one or more carrier signals to encode digital information, and the receiver demodulates the signal to recover the original digital information.
- The goal is to create a signal that can be easily transmitted and reliably decoded. Modems can be used with almost any analog signal transmission medium, from LEDs to radios.
- The sole purpose of a modem is to provide Internet access.
- If you only have one device connected to the Internet via an Ethernet port (such as a desktop computer), you can connect your modem directly to your computer without a router.
