We observe two types of movements in plants

Tropic movement >it is a directional movement

Nastie movement >this is a non directional movement

These all movement is actually caused by growth of plant body

by the auxin and other substances

There are two types of movements observed in plants.

They are:

=> \sf{\underline{Nastic\:movement}}

=> \sf{\underline{Tropic\:movement}}

\sf{\underline{1)\:Nastic\:movements:}}

⚫These are non directional responses to stimuli.

⚫Such as:

=> \sf{\underline{Temperature}}

=> \sf{\underline{Heat}}

⚫These kind of movements do not depend on direction of stimulus.

⚫Such as:

=> \sf{\underline{Seismonastic}}

=> \sf{\underline{Chemonastic}}

⚫Example of Seismonastic movement is movement of Venus fly trap.

\sf{\underline{2)\:Tropic\:movement:}}

⚫This is the response to stimuli that comes from one direction.

⚫It is a directional movement.

\sf{\underline{Positive\:and\:Negative\:tropism:}}

\sf{\underline{1)\:Positive\:tropism:}}

⚫If the movement of the plant part is towards the stimulus, then it is known as positive tropism.

\sf{\underline{2)\:Negative\:tropism:}}

⚫If the movement of the plant part is away from the stimulus, then it is known as negative tropism.

⚫For example:

=> \sf{\underline{Phototropism}}

=> \sf{\underline{Geotropism}}
