Nilgiris district of Tamil nadu has the highest frequency of landslides. In the month of November 2009, 1150 landslides took place near Nilgiri Hills due to which 80 people died. Many dangerous landslide events have taken place in the past. Inspite of government efforts, landslide disasters have kept on increasing along with death and casualties.
