Hey dear here is your answer!!!!!

Let's compare both the characteristics first:-

(A) the place where they live:-

We cannot classify if an organism is more basic or not according to its habitat because both simple and complex organisms live in all types of habitat and sometimes instead simpler organisms can survive in such places where complex organisms can't. Eg - Both animals and bacteria live on live or in water.

(B) The kind of cells they are made of:-

This definitely helps us classify them. Prokaryotes are the cells which are less developed than eukaryotes. Their body mechanism is much simpler than that of eukaryotes. They don't even have mitochondria while eukaryotes do.

So, the characteristic (B) is more basic for classifying organisms.

Answer:

Classification based on living place is more basic as there can be wide variations in organisms living in a given place.
