Costume jewellery with polished white layer upon them,are actually electroplated with a very thin layer of silver metal.

Because,costume jewelleries are very cheap , that's why manufacturers have to use cheap raw materials ,in order to income the maximum possible benefit.

Similarly, silver is much more cheaper than other jewellery metals and due to the electroplating,we can apply the coating to huge amount of jewelleries with a minor amount of silver.

That's why silver is the most used element to create the white polishing layer of the costume jewelleries.
