carbon is the element

because the electronic configuration of carbon is k l

2 4

so in second shell the no. of electrons is doubled or twice as that in first shell

K shell = 2

L shell = 4

Atomic number (Z) = 2+4= 6

∴ Carbon is the reqd element (Z = 6)
