"Calcium" is essential for the growth of root tips.

Calcium is present in the cell walls in the form of ‘calcium pectate’. It helps in holding the plant’s cells together and for growing new cells. Plants derive its calcium from the soil, which it transports to the different parts for utilization.

Calcium is also an important ion that helps in performing many other cellular functions. Hence, when ‘calcium’ is deficient, new plants tissues like root tips, new shoots and leaves do not form or stop growing due to improper ‘cell wall formation’.
