The formation of our planet earth is described by the Big Bang Theory.

According to this theory the planets of solar system including a are created by explosion in the sun millions and billions year ago. After this explosion many pieces of the sun's was separated from its main body and later these segments cooled down from the hot liquid state.

During this cooling and solidification process comparatively heavy substances went down to the core part of the planet and lighter substances formed the crust part of the planet.

As the substance distribution is not even, that's why we can find similar substance like iron, nickel and other metals both in crust and core(mantle) part of the earth.
