The ventrular parts are broader because they are the recieving and the pumping chambers. The pumping of deoxy blood by the right ventricle from the pulmonary artery to the lungs and oxygenated bloo by the left ventricle exerts great pressure on the walls and this is the reason ventricular region is broader.
