It happened sometime around the late 1970s.

The scientists discovered that a place called the Love canal which as very close to the Niagara Falls was badly polluted.

Earlier it used to be a dumping ground for toxic wastes and as a result, the soil and the surroundings were badly polluted.

As a result of this pollution, all the families were getting sick and some were getting affected with leukaemia.
