Pancreas is an exo - endocrine gland. The exocrine function of the pancreas is due to the presence of the ducts it is provided with. The endocrine function is due to the presence of the islets of langerhans which contain alpha and beta cells that produce the hormones namely glucagon and insulin respectively. In addition to this, the pancreas produces certain pancreatic enzymes through the pancreatic parenchyma and these enzymes mainly aid in digestion. Some of these enzymes are lipase, amylase and protease.
