Simple squamous epithelium is also known by its other name, pavement epithelium.
It is found in capillaries, alveoli in lungs, glomerulus and other tissues. The cells are flat shaped with flattened and oblong nuclei.
These cells are in contact with the basal lamina of the epithelium, and is found where small molecules need to quickly filter or diffuse through membranes.
