The equipment that is used to ‘facilitate breathing’ during serious ‘breathing problems’ is the oxygen mask. They are used to transfer the oxygen from the machine to the lungs directly they are mostly made up of silicone or rubber.
There are three types of oxygen masks, they are
- Continuous-flow system - Oxygen is supplied continuously.
- Pressure-demand mask - The supply of oxygen happens only when the patient inhales.
- Diluter-demand system - As the ‘altitude increases’ the oxygen supply also increases.
