Explanation:

The Harappan civilisation came to be revealed under Sir John Marshall who was the Director General of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) in 1901. Earlier in 1862, Sir Alexander Cunningham who worked as an archaeological surveyor had found some strange unidentified seals in the neighbourhood of Harappa, Punjab. In the year 1921, an officer of the ASI named Dayaram Sahni unearthed the ruins properly and found out the ruins in and around Harappa. A year later, R.D. Bannerjee, assisted by a Buddhist monk, discovered the city of Mohenjo-Daro. Thus, through the arduous efforts of both Indian and British archaeologists, the Harappan civilisation was discovered.
