Many factors led to the storming of the bastille. They were as follows:
1.The bastille stood for the despotic power of the king
2. Louis XVI refused to give recognition to the National Assembly and also didn't support the old regime based on feudal rights..
3.The citizens also hd to face the severe winter. They protested against the high prices of bread, which was their staple diet. They had to stand in long queues for buying bread....The workers and the bakers were badly exploited by the rich. This angered the mob and led them to take up arms and gradually storm the bastille.

So, the storming of the bastille signified the end of the autocratic rule of the monarch...
