Kashmiri has vowel sounds and other sounds which are not in other languages, so this has that and is phonetic like all other Brahmi lettering, which makes it easy to pronounce once you learn it. It is also related to Gurmukhi script used for Punjabi and also the old Tankri script that was used for Dogri.

Explanation

Later, after Kashmir mostly converted to Islam, a new script based on Perso-Arabic was created. It needed modifications to handle Kashmiri so it is a bit different from Urdu script, for example.
